Can the Surface Pro 8 run studio and music production software? How many plugins can it run and what sort of virtual instrument performance do you get? These are the questions I aim to answer in this deep dive into the performance of the SP8 in terms of making and recording music. We’ll be looking at plugin counts, VSTi polyphony and how well the SP8 holds up under load. We’ll be analysing the CPU behaviour and how to keep the temperature under control.
